Introduction to the principle of aramid flame retardant fabric

Compared with finishing flame retardant textiles, aramid fiber is a kind of textile which has flame retardant effect. Its flame retardant effect is durable, no odor, no damage caused by flame retardant finishing agent and processing aid. The residue causes the fabric to become brittle.

 

Flame retardant fibers having flame retardant properties include aramid, aromatic heterocyclic polyamide, polybenzimidazole (PBI), polyparaphenylene benzoxazole (PBO), polyamide imide, Aromatic high temperature resistant flame retardant fiber such as polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) or polyarylsulfone amide (PSA); thermosetting three-dimensional crosslinked fiber such as melamine fiber or phenolic fiber; copolymerized modified nitrile chloride fiber and flame retardant Blended modified flame retardant viscose fiber, flame retardant vinylon, flame retardant polyester, flame retardant nylon, etc. Among them, the synthetic fiber modified by blended flame retardant, such as flame-retardant polyester, flame-retardant nylon, and flame-retardant polypropylene, has a droplet drop problem, so its application is limited. Flame-retardant viscose, flame-retardant vinylon and nitrile-chloride are not subject to droplets. The disadvantage of nitrile-chloride is that the strength is low and there is more smoke when burning.

The international mainstream flame retardant products have the following two classic combinations:

 

(1) Kermel fiber with flame coloring technology is blended with flame retardant viscose at a blend ratio of 50/50. It is the main fabric of high temperature flame retardant protective clothing for European military and police personnel.

 

(2) Aramid 1313, which is represented by Nomex, is purely spun or blended with flame-retardant cotton fiber (65/35). It is the main flame-retardant fabric of the military in the United States and Japan. Developed by NASA in the United States, PBI is used in heat-resistant fireproof materials for aerospace sealed warehouses. Because of its high regain rate, it has gradually developed into a fire-retardant material for fire-fighting suits, high-temperature overalls, and flight suits. PBO's flame retardant performance is particularly good, and the strength reaches nearly 2 times that of aramid 1414, LOI reaches 68, and almost no smoke is generated after heating. Polysulfonamide is one of the flame retardant fibers researched and developed by China. Its heat resistance, flame retardancy, non-melting, electrical insulation and corrosion resistance can reach or approach Nomex fiber. In China, filter materials and motor insulation materials. , flame retardant protective clothing and other aspects have been promoted and applied.
